Guava Cooler | Guava Welcome Drink Recipe

Step-wise picture recipe to make a perfect welcome drink using guavas – guava cooler. This is very easy and quite a straight forward recipe that can be made ahead for parties or get-togethers.

First things first โ€“ We moved in our new home last to last weekend and it still feels surreal to be living our dream finally. I know I have been MIA since a few weeks and I missed this space immensely. There is no way I could have made it here all the while getting the new house ready and packing up stuff at the old house. On top of it, we had our families visiting and then the big move. The last three weeks had been insane but we survived it! I am still getting used to the new house and the kitchen especially, trying to set myself with a routine โ€“ getting there slowly. If you wish to see regular updates on what I cook on a daily basis, do follow me on Instagram โ€“ I did post our first meal (with a barely functioning kitchen and zilch groceries) at the new home over there ๐Ÿ™‚

So back to the recipe of Guava Cooler, an amazing welcome drink that can be made in a jiffy! Full disclaimer, I donโ€™t like guavas or rather I am very particular about the kind of guava I eat. It should be neither ripe nor raw with right amount of flesh and seeds. We have three different guava trees at my parents place and they yield such delicious fruits year after year. Of the three, two bear white centered fruits and one has pink center. Again, I personally prefer white centered guava for that is very tasty but when I made this guava cooler, I laid my hands on some Thai Guavas that had pink colored flesh.

The first time I had this Guava Cooler was in a newly opened Kerala restaurant near by. I was skeptical especially since it was made with Guava but I fell in love with it almost immediately. I had to absolutely give it a try and made it the very next weekend. However, it took time to share it here as I was super busy with house-related work. But better late than never eh?!

I think it is so apt for this to be named Guava cooler as it really helps cool down your body. I used sweet basil seeds, called as Sabja seeds that have great cooling properties along with pureed guava and not only do they add a texture, they are good for the health too. I added very little sugar which can be replaced with honey. Along with it, I also added a big fat pinch of chaat masala to add a zing to this cool drink. If thatโ€™s not available, use some fresh lime juice! Either ways, it is lip-smacking delicious ๐Ÿ™‚ Check out other cool drink recipes on this blog!
